Yes, using a service named Freegal (free + legal), St. Louis Public Library cardholders can download free music to their computer or mobile device for personal use. Each week you can choose up to three songs from thousands of songs, over 100 genres of music, and more than 50 record labels. Sunday at midnight, your counter is set back to zero. Then you'll be able to download three more songs.
Best of all, the songs never expire - no due dates. Special software isn't needed to use the service, and there are no digital rights management restrictions. Music is downloaded in an MP3 form that can be played, transferred or burned to a CD.

We are one of Central Library's in-depth research collections. The Central Library building was closed from June 2010 to December 2012 for an award-winning restoration and renovation. The Fine Arts Room was restored to its original beauty, with new chandeliers and lighted shelving. Do come by if you can!
